View from the Opposition - Everton
In our 3rd game in 7 days we have a trip up to Meryseyside and visit the blue half. It is fair to say that this has been a ground which feels like a victory has been longer awaited than the Red side.

However with our recent fortunes against the reds and Adrian’s show of Heroism in the FA Cup last year, I feel we go to Everton with good belief that yet again we can come back down the M6 with a smile. That’s the supporters, obviously players will be on a lear jet into Stanstead.

Everton seem buoyant after their recent investment and also feel they have a good chance of the FA Cup.

From the Everton fourm www.grandoldteam.com I have 2 females answering our questions this week. The 2 blokes who said they would do it didn’t reply….

Linkers Legs is currently residing in Califronia and Chicoazul is a 28 year old and has been a season ticket holder for 24 years, She live’s at home with a dog called Goatsmar and love cheese on toast.

What your views are of your season so far and how you think the rest of the season will go?

LL - We have been the better team in a lot of our games but overall that means little if you don’t take home the points your performances deserve. There has been a recently improvement so hopefully that will continue and we’ll also progress further in the FA cup.

C - It's been a missed opportunity for us with the talented young team we have and the state of the league being so open this season. We really need a decent run before the end of the season and to show some consistency we have been lacking in order to build some excitement for next season.

Why are you known as the toffees? (bruuuno)

LL - Years ago there was an Everton village toffee shop that sold Everton mints popular with supporters, a link further enhanced when the club established the prematch tradition of a Toffee Lady throwing sweets into the crowd.

You were always known as "The Dogs of War" Any idea why? (Jackflash)

LL - Under Royle we had a very tenacious midfield that had an enthusiastic approach to stopping the opposition any way they could, Payet would have loved them

C - We were only known as that during the mid nineties when Joe Royle came into a really crap Everton team and used abrasive midfielders like Barry Horne, Joe Parkinson and John Ebbrell to good effect to stabilise the team, and win an FA Cup in the process.

John Stones. Next Rio or overrated and not convincing defensively ? (Rossai)

LL - He wasn’t performing up to his usual high standards just prior to his injury. Believe it was a combination of several factors – no Jags to help direct him instead RFM who was himself adapting to the league, a hangover from the stress of the transfer period where he was playing out of his skin, covering rightback where he isn’t as good and just natural variation in the form of a young player.

He clearly still has lots of learn, especially in the air, but still very young for a central defender - personally convinced he is the real deal but time will tell.

C - I personally think he's a very good defender but he's still young and still learning. He'll play for England for a long time but at the moment he's out of the team and we're conceding less.

Payet, Ogbonna, Byram - who do you think will be the next player to turn you down and join us? (Eggbert Nobacon)

LL - Lennon, Lukaku, Deulofeu and Mirallas have all preferred us so not too unhappy with the way things have panned out the past few years especially given Lukaku’s wonderful record against you.

Your ability to offer lucrative contracts has been an advantage in recent negotiations although money sometimes brings its own issues - Payet has been excellent to date but that appears a crazily expensive long term deal you’ve had to give a 29 year old with little history in the league especially when Deschamps seems to think he is too temperamental to fit into a notoriously moody French team.

But with this weekend’s announcement that Moshiri will be investing in the club the dynamics might change a bit …perhaps the Merseyside Millionaires are back but this time with billions ;-)

C - I guess whichever mercenary prefers more money to a better football club?

I suppose claiming an obscure stake to a World Cup is more endearing than winning league titles, of which we have nine.

How many do you have mate? Hint: it's the same exact number as the amount of actual females you've slept with.

James McCarthy, proper old fashioned tackle on Payet, or a serious foul that could have ended the bloke's career? (Far Cough)

FF - Somewhere in the middle, would prefer for those challenges not to happen but don’t think there was any malicious intent in it and if you allow tackles then some are going to be unfortunately mistimed. Dier did a very similar one on Cleverley a couple of weeks earlier that had Tom out for a couple of months when he looked to be hitting good form, pity but these things happen.

Did find your fans wailing like it was one of the worse challenges in the history of football pretty funny though.

C - Good old fashioned tackle, similar to one on Cleverley away to Spurs but the reactions from the respective sets of fans were very different. We thought we'd actually murdered him based on your reactions.

I'm sure Julian Dicks and Neil Ruddock were aghast at such a robust challenge.

What's James McCarthy's home address? ( LilyHammer)

LL - You into gingers? Unfortunately for you he’s happily married mate.

C - Ask your mother, she knows.

Do you agree that Lukaku will look great in a West Ham shirt next season? (Takashi Miike)

LL - Only chance Rom will be wearing a West Ham shirt is if he exchanges it with a sobbing and humiliated Ogbonna.

C - Not as good as Bobby Zamora would do as he's more your level too.

How does it feel to know you're one of our most bitter rivals in modern day football? (One McAvennieeeeee)

LL – Honestly, a bit surprising. Have a few clubs I don’t like, our lovable neighbours being foremost, but rarely get that excited about West Ham one way or another.

C - Flattering, you're little cute West Ham to us.

Is Martinez tactical naivety ruining the best squad Everton have had for a generation? (From last week’s Tottenham fan)

LL – His defensive organization and inability to see out a game has done unfortunate things to my blood pressure at times this season but equally it is unlikely we’d even have this squad if it wasn’t for him.

C - Maybe so, maybe we over rate our players, maybe it's part of process and we'll be superb next season and beyond. I really don't know.

What is the general Everton supporters view on Liverpool's sense of superiority and playing the victim at every opportunity? (normannomates)

LL - How long you got, the answer would probably take longer than our match!

Usually just roll my eyes and laugh at them, although the press seems to lap it all up. You could tell most rival fans see through it all by the reaction to Crystanbul and the glee with which the Gerrard song is still sung.

C - The same as yours I reckon, it's not particularly endearing. It sadly rubs off on scousers as a whole too. But what can we do?

What are your thoughts on West Ham and our fans?

LL - Didn’t enjoy watching you under much of Allardyce’s tenure apart from a brief flurry at the start of last season where you seemed to be playing some attractive football only for him to go back to his usual formula. You are much more fun under Bilic, particularly your jaunt up to Anfield this year and your FA cup win over them. Generally we have had a good record against you which hopefully will continue for a long time to come!

C – Without going into soft spot territory I've worked with more than a few West Ham fans and each of them to a man has been sound working class lads who like their footie and a bevvy, and enjoy a fatalistic approach to football which resonates with a lot of Evertonians.

This was prior to our game last autumn before you acted like crying kopites over a hard tackle on what appears to be your greatest ever player of all time. We were agog at your response to be honest.

I'm sure you'll heed my feedback and refrain from this in future.

What Player do you have that would make our first 11 and what west ham player, apart from Payet and Adrian, would you like to see in Blue?

LL - Several, Lukaku being the most obvious. International appearances are one relatively neutral measurement of the quality of a player and whilst we have multiple players with regular caps your international weeks seem to be pretty quiet!

Hard to judge a midfielder unless you watch a team’s full games regularly as they rarely shine in highlight reels but from what I’ve seen Kouyate has been a good signing. Have enjoyed watching Reese Oxford in the junior England matches, thought it a shame he wasn’t allowed to go to Chile with his teammates in the summer.

C - Pretty much any of our first team regulars would make your first 11 and for us I wouldn't mind that Lanzini for our bench.

Which London clubs support do they like and dislike? (normoannomates)

LL - I live abroad now so not able to judge other clubs fans face to face, however we have some good Spurs, Arsenal and Crystal Palace fans on our forum. Perhaps a few of your fans will consider becoming posters too?

As a matter of principal detest Chelsea fans.

C - I have always liked West Ham and Spurs if I had to pick, Crystal Palace from the South. Fulham is a pleasant away day. Not too fond of Arsenal or Chelsea.

Now that most cars have alloy whells do you nick the whole wheel instead of just the hubcaps? (SaulBollox)

LL - Given your owners daylight robbery of the Olympic stadium under taxpayer noses not sure you should be throwing stones in that particular glass house!

C - Depends how baggy my shell suit is to how much I can stash.

The EU debate, in our out? Which course of action do you think will have the greatest effect on your benefits cheque? (Westside)

LL - I’d be more worried about how it affected your finances if I were you mate as you clearly need to pay someone to write your jokes given the tired nature of your own.

C - I'd prefer whichever option will pays the most for my nine children, seven dogs and 60 a day Benson & Hedges habit. Don't worry I'll write to the Daily Mail and tell them all about it so you'll know the outcome, you tory cockspanner.

What are your favourite crisps?

LL - Walkers Salt and Vinegar. Walkers for the Lineker connection and the rest because fits my bitter disposition.

C - Now this is more like it for questions. If you had to pin me down and hold me to one choice I'd go for Salt and Vinegar square crisps, but biting hard on the ankles of the Squares like an eager James McCarthy would be Brannigans Roast Beef and Mustard.

Would you rather 4th in the Premiership or to win the FA Cup?

LL - Old fashioned enough to prefer the FA cup win, sod the accountants.

C - Winning a cup always.

What are your views on football ticket prices and what have your club done to help your supporters?

LL - Scandalously high. I believe we were the only club who voted for a cap on away tickets at 30 quid and there have been agreements with clubs like Newcastle and Swansea for reciprocal deals on discounted tickets. Generally my impression is we are pretty good although there is always room for improvement - hopefully one of the local posters will give you a more informed answer.

C – Considering that the main income stream is TV money I think the ticket prices are far too much. On saying that we have some of the cheapest tickets in the division, the club have made a few reductions for selected games this season but I'd like an overall reduction and soon.

Do you agree with a set price for all away tickets? If so what price should they be set at?

LL - The “twenties plenty” campaign seems sensible.

C - I think a price cap would be better, the Twenty's Plenty campaign is a far shout, so twenty quid it should be.

Up next we have Manchester United, what question would you like us to ask their fan?

LL - Manchester United has spent a huge amount in the past couple of years on international players yet in recent weeks it is your academy lads that have been adding a welcome spark to your performances. Inspired management by LVG to have a small squad that encourages youth development or happy accident?

C - Ask the United fan to make sure they beat Liverpool in the most cruel manner over 2 legs in the Europa League please.

And finally your prediction for the game?

LL - Lukaku likes playing against West Ham and your trips to Goodison have usually been profitable for us. But you’re on a good run so think it will be an enjoyable and close game, will guess 2-1 to us.

C - You're a decent away side and we're a nightmare at home so I'm going for a draw.

I fucking hate that tin pot, two bob, pikey, cunt of a club, but I used up my real hate on Wednesday - today is a bit whatever. We got bigger and better fish to fry than little old, tiny, irrelevant Everton.

Like I said somewhere else. This lot are perennial underachievers, like Spurs. Been toiling away making no impact whatsoever against the proper big clubs. And they're now desperately vitriolic against others they see as a threat. That match preview from C is just about the most self indulgent diatribe I've seen in a fan site. Now being heralded as some sort of amazingly witty ironic troll trap. Mugs. Someone should start a poll about what to do on an away day and include stabbing up an evertonian. Then we can all laugh at the wittiness of it when everyone gets upset. Massive wankers

W few of our own thought the tackle was HARD and FAIR, Hermit.

Proper cowards tackle, but it weren't the tackle that was the worst bit, it was the fact he didn't get sent off.

Re: View from the Opposition - Everton
I never used to mind Evertonians but they seem to have turned into a right bunch of minges. It takes a rare level of cuntiness to blame a player for getting a serious injury due to a horrible foul, and then wish more of the same on him.

Let's hope that if one of their brave midfielders does take someone out by coming through him from behind, the ref this time sends him off. That's a mark of them too, they reckon a snide move like going through someone from the back when you don't even know they're there, is tough tackling.
